Durham, NC – (Tuesday, 10/19/2021) – On Monday, October 18, 2021, at approximately 12:45 p.m. deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Cricket Wireless on the 3700 block of Wake Forest Highway for the report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, they learned that a clerk at the store was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown suspect who was brandishing a handgun. After receiving the money from the cash register in the store, the robber then forced the clerk to open the safe and give him the cash from inside. After ordering the clerk to lay on the ground, the suspect then fled from the store in an unknown direction.
At approximately 10:11 p.m. the same day, deputies responded to the Family Fare on the 5100 block of Guess Rd. In this incident, the suspect entered the store, threatened the clerk with a handgun, forced them to hand over money from the cash register, and after receiving an unknown amount of cash and ordering the clerk to lay on the ground, he left the store.
No injuries were reported in either incident. The suspect in both these incidents is believed to be the same person. Surveillance video of one of the incidents is below.
