Durham, N.C., Aug. 15, 2013—Durham County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 3900 block of Olde Coach Road in Durham this morning after a man called 911 to report that his house had just been burglarized by a group of men—one of which was armed with a pistol.

The victim, a man in his early twenties, was in bed in an upstairs bedroom at 9:15 a.m. when he heard a loud crashing sound downstairs. A moment later a man armed with a pistol came into his bedroom and held the victim at gunpoint while the gunman’s accomplices searched the house for valuables.

Sheriff Star Badge

The burglary took only minutes and the suspects left the residence in possession of several electronics including the victim’s cell phone. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a silver sedan. The victim was not hurt and used a neighbor’s phone to call 911 after the suspects had left.
Sheriff’s investigators believe the victim’s residence was selected at random and the suspects did not know anyone was home when they decided to break in.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Durham CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrest and prosecution in felony crimes and callers never have to identify themselves.
