On the morning of Thursday, June 16th, 2022, the Durham County Sheriff’s Office was called to Shattuck Labs on Alexandia Way in Research Triangle Park after an employee with the company reported an overnight break-in.

It is believed the man shown in the surveillance video broke windows to gain access just before 1 A.M. After entering, he went throughout the building opening cabinets and refrigerators. According to staff, the research lab did not contain any chemicals that could be used maliciously, and it does not appear anything was taken.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 lbs.

Sheriff’s Office Investigators Seek Armed Robbery Suspect

Durham County Sheriff’s Office investigators would like the public to take a look at the surveillance photos from an armed robbery that occurred on the night of Friday, April 22. Just after 9:00 p.m., a man whose identity is unknown entered the Billy’s Mart at the BP station on 3834 Cheek Rd in Durham County. He approached the clerk with a black handgun and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, giving him an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled east from the store on foot towards Fletcher’s Chapel Rd.

The suspect is described as a white male of a thin build and standing approximately 5’10” tall. He was last seen wearing black and white tennis shoes, blue jeans, a blue shirt, and a grey jacket.  He covered his face with a light blue shirt during the robbery. No one was injured.

Durham, NC – (Tuesday, 10/19/2021) – On Monday, October 18, 2021, at approximately 12:45 p.m. deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Cricket Wireless on the 3700 block of Wake Forest Highway for the report of an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, they learned that a clerk at the store was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown suspect who was brandishing a handgun.  After receiving the money from the cash register in the store, the robber then forced the clerk to open the safe and give him the cash from inside.  After ordering the clerk to lay on the ground, the suspect then fled from the store in an unknown direction.

At approximately 10:11 p.m. the same day, deputies responded to the Family Fare on the 5100 block of Guess Rd. In this incident, the suspect entered the store, threatened the clerk with a handgun, forced them to hand over money from the cash register, and after receiving an unknown amount of cash and ordering the clerk to lay on the ground, he left the store.

No injuries were reported in either incident.  The suspect in both these incidents is believed to be the same person. Surveillance video of one of the incidents is below.

On Thursday, February 4, 2021, at approximately 5:15 a.m., deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1425 Bahama Road in Bahama, NC (Durham County) to investigate a break-in at Drye’s Gun Shop. Responding officers determined the suspect(s) drove a stolen vehicle into the building.  Investigators are releasing the attached photographs of the three (3) suspects.  The Sheriff’s office reports the vehicle was stolen from “British 4×4” on Hillsborough Road in Durham.  They reported 2 guns were stolen in the break-in, and the stolen vehicle was recovered from the crime scene.

Arson investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Durham County Fire Marshall’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance after a fire at a historic site in Durham on Monday, June 1.  An alarm on the main house at the Stagville State Historic Site alerted Durham County Fire to the blaze at approximately 6:45 a.m. that morning. On January 19, 2020, at approximately 10:17 p.m. an armed man entered the JoyMart located at 1624 Glenn School Rd.

The suspect stole the cash drawer, and fled in a stolen vehicle. The car, was found abandoned a short distance away.
