Luciano Cabrera

The body of Luciano Cabrera, 21, of Durham was found in the woods off the 2400 block of S Roxboro Street on August 19, 2011. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

He was last seen during the early morning hours of Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the former Club Steel Blue at 711 Rigsbee Avenue.

Investigators are also trying to identify an unidentified male who used Cabrera’s stolen credit card at 3:39 a.m. on June 11 at the State Employees Credit Union at 504 S Duke Street.

Crystal “Jersey” Baker

Patrol officers were searching for a burglary suspect in the woods near Chandler Road and Ross Road in eastern Durham on January 22, 2010 when they found the body of Crystal Lynn “Jersey” Baker, 24, of Durham.

Baker had been stabbed to death. She had last been seen in the area of the Budget Inn on Holloway Street.

Guadalupe Alejandro Lira

  • Name of Victim: Guadalupe Alejandro Lira

Guadalupe Alejandro Lira, 35, was shot to death on December 12, 2009 following a fight at the El Pantano Club at 1000 E Geer Street.

Lira was with friends when they were involved in a fight with a group of people inside the club. The fight spilled out into the parking lot and a male fired a shot at Lira and his friends as they were getting into their vehicle to leave, according to witnesses.

Lira drove away from the club, but his friends realized he had been shot, switched drivers and started driving toward the hospital. On the way they ran out of gas on the Durham Freeway and flagged down an officer.

Ronald Fetherson

  • Location: 1207 Truman St (McDougald Terrace building 56G)
  • Suspect Status: At Large

Officers were dispatched to a stabbing call at 1207 Truman Street, Apartment 56-G at 8:38 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009.

When they arrived, they found the body of 53-year-old Ronald Fetherson inside the apartment. He had been stabbed to death. Neighbors last saw Fetherson alive around 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 29.

Ernesto Allen

  • Location: 418 Dowd St
  • Suspect Status: At Large

A male flagged down an officer around 9:24 p.m. on November 2, 2008 and told him a man had been shot near the intersection of Dowd and Elizabeth Streets.

The officer found Ernesto Allen, 27, of Gray Avenue lying on the curb in front of 418 Dowd Street. He was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Carrie Watkins

Carrie “Nook” Denise Watkins, 23, of Sater Street was standing outside 503 Bruce Street near Angier Avenue when she was shot in a drive-by shooting shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008. Watkins was taken to Duke University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Pedro Quijano

  • Location: Fairfax St
  • Suspect Status: At Large

Pedro Quijano, 44, was found shot to death in his vehicle on Miami Boulevard on April 25, 2006. He had suffered a shotgun wound to the chest.

The shooting happened on Fairfax Street and investigators believe it may have been a robbery.

Bonnie Daye

On Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 7:31 p.m. officers responded to 409 Buxton Drive where they found the body of 81-year-old Bonnie Daye inside his home. Daye was last seen alive around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2005.

Daye’s car, a cream colored 2002 4-door Cadillac Seville, was missing. It was found around 9:30 p.m. on June 15 in the 500 block of Atlantic Street near Mutual Drive.

Rayburn Simms

  • Location: Leon St near Broad St
  • Suspect Status: At Large

On May 21, 2005 at 1:59 a.m., officers responded to a 1-car traffic accident on Broad Street in front of the Oaks at Northgate Apartments.

The driver, 30-year-old Rayburn Antonio Demarcus Simms of Durham, had been shot in the side. He died a short time later.

Investigators believe Simms was shot on Leon Street near Broad Street and then drove approximately 2 blocks before his car ran off the road and down an embankment. His car – a green 2001 Chrysler Sebring – had several bullet holes in it.

Michelle Spencer

On January 27, 2005, City of Durham workers discovered the body of a female off the road near a creek in the 200 block of Chandler Road.

The female was later identified as Michelle Spencer, AKA Michelle Lynette Royal, and she had died from a gunshot wound.

Sherry Alston

Sherry Selinda Alston, 39, of Durham was fatally injured in a drive-by shooting on May 15, 2004.

Alston was in front of an abandoned house at 709 Eva Street when shots were fired from a vehicle, possibly a green SUV.

Daniel Guerrero

Daniel Guerrero was fatally stabbed on June 22, 2003 after leaving a party at an apartment complex at 4230 Garrett Road.

Two males approached him and started to argue with him in the parking lot. During the argument he was stabbed multiple times in the torso. He died later at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
